Wintertime Fun!

It's cold - it's January - so what is there to do in Gunnison? Well- lots!
There is always cross-country skiing on the local trails set by the dedicated Gunnison Nordic Club. You can play hockey or figure skate at Pac-Man Pond in Jorgensen Park or the indoor ice rink.

Speaking of the Gunnison Nordic Club - that group will be holding their annual Gunnison Nordic Ski Fest this Saturday, January 29th, starting at 10am at the Hartman Rocks base area. For more information go to www.gunnisonnordic.net It looks like it should be wonderful weather for this event. They are having a tropical theme this year. Dress Accordingly!

The Gunnison Recreation Department has a new program for gymnastics enthusiasts. Aspiring gymnasts can practice skills to move up in levels or just play on the equipment that you might not normally use. There will be a certified instructor available to help with spotting on the mats and equipment. Ages: 1 and up for youth through adult. Fridays from 5 to 6pm on January 28th, February 4th, 18th and 25th. the cost is $3 for members and $5 for non-members.

Fridays Dive at 5 continues at the Community Pool. Kids are welcome to participate in fun aquatic games. The program is every Friday starting at 5pm.

Pee Wee Duster Wrestling teaches basic wrestling skills. All participants must have a USA Wrestling Card at a cost of $35.00. All levels practice at the Gunnison High School Wrestling Room.
The pre-kindergarten through 2nd grade program takes place on Tuesday-Wednesday and Thursday from 5:30 to 6:15pm. The cost for this level is $22 plus the USA Wrestling Card.
The 3rd through 5th grade wrestling level has practice from 6 to 7pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday again in the GHS Wrestling Room. The cost for this level is $25 plus the USA Wrestling Card.

Session 2 of swimming lessons is beginning the week of January 31st. There are all different levels, days, nights and weekend lesson times available - as well as Semi/Private Swim lessons. With all of these choices - you have no excuse to get in the water!!
