Taking Down the Tree

If you're ready for the holidays to be over and are thinking about taking down the tree - you have a "green" option for your real tree.

Once all of the ornaments and tinsel are removed...set your tree in the alley behind your residence near but not blocking where your trash is picked up and the City's street & alley crew will come by in the next couple of weeks and pick it up.  (this does NOT include artificial trees :-)  Be patient, the crews are also plowing and removing the much-needed snow.  Once they have a couple of non-plowing minutes, they will pick up trees in the alleys.

If you would like, you can also take your undecorated tree to the gate at the City's summertime tree/grass/leaves dump.  This is located on County Road 51 just north of Gunnison.  If you get to County Road 10 (the Cranor Hill Road) you've gone too far!  Place the tree to the north side of the entrance road by the locked gate.  Please DO NOT block the gate.  The crews will pick up the trees from the side of the road and then take them on up into the tree dump.

The trees will be recycled and chipped into landscaping and Gunnison Gold compost-making mulch this coming summer!  What a deal!  If you have any questions, please call 641-8020 dueing business hours.
