Gunnison's Winter Carnival

The kids are out of school on Tuesday, February 22nd!! All ages are welcome to come and celebrate all the sports that make winter GREAT at Jorgensen Park. Contestants should show up at least 15 minutes prior to the event to sign up. Waivers need to be signed for each person participating. There will be great prizes and awards for the winners. The event prizes are thanks to the Generous Support of local businesses.

Free Events:
Age groups are 6yrs and under; 7 to 9 yrs.; 10 to 13 yrs.; 14 to 17 yrs.; 18 to 25 yrs.; and 26yrs. and over.

Cross-Country Ski Race starting at 10am
Snowmovile Joring - Open to participants 7 and older. Each participant must have and wear a helmet to participate! starts at 10:45am
Ski/Snowboard Jib Fest starts at 11am
Hockey Skill Challenge - obstacle course, speed skating, hardest shot and accuracy starts at 1pm
Polar Bear Dive starts at 4pm

Presidents Day Holiday

The City of Gunnison will be observing the "Presidents Day Holiday" on Monday, February 21st. Most City offices will be closed. The Police Patrol Officers, Fire Department and Communications Dispatchers will be on duty serving the citizens.

If your refuse route is normally picked up on Monday - your refuse will be picked up on Tuesday, February 22nd. With the extra pickup on Tuesday, your trash may be picked up a little later in the day than normal. Thank you for your patience.

On Monday, February 21st, the Gunnison Community Aquatics Center will be open from 8am to 9pm. There will be no early morning swim on Monday. The Climbing Wall be will open at 12 Noon. On Tuesday, February 22nd, the RE1J Schools are not in session and the Community Center will resume its normal hours of operation. On Tuesday, the climbing wall will open at 12 Noon.

The Gunnison Winter Carnival will take place on Tuesday, February 22nd starting at 10am at Jorgensen Park. Come out and enjoy competitions, fun obstacle course and the polar bear dive for all of the hardy Gunnisonites at 4pm! Call 641-8060 for more information.

Get Fit Stay Fit Fitness Class

The Get Fit Stay Fit Class starts this coming Monday - Febraury 14th. This class is designed for anyone looking for a different, challenging and fun workout. Classes will include a variety of exercises that will change weekly, including weight training, cardio, circuit and boot camp-style classes. Each class begins with a warm-up and ends with stretching or relaxation. All levels are welcome. The instructor is Monica Hutson. The class is Mondays and Wednesday, 6:05-6:50am at the Community Center. Punch cards are available for the class or you can just drop in for one class and try it out. Updated Ice Rink Information

The Jorgensen Park Pond and the Outdoor Covered Rink are OPEN starting today, Friday, February 11th. The Indoor Jorgensen Events Center Ice Rink will be OPEN, starting Saturday, February 12th.
